Lab Information ![]()
Osler Medical's laboratory is licensed by the State of Florida and certified by an agency of the Federal
Government. The management and staff of the laboratory are committed to standards of quality care in
accordance with state and federal guidelines. The lab is located in the Osler Medical building at 930 South Harbor City Blvd. (U.S. 1) in Melbourne, on the 3rd floor, Suite 304. The office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments are accepted between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. for those patients who must fast or have work commitments. Patients are seen between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on a first come first served basis. All our facilities routinely collect specimens and transport them to the Melbourne office for processing. For your convenience, the Palm Bay office will collect/draw specimens for patients from other offices. Some of the tests performed require "fasting". This means you can consume WATER ONLY during the 12 hours prior to your blood being drawn (NO FOOD, COFFEE, or TEA). Your physician or a staff member of Osler Medical will advise you when "fasting" is necessary. In most cases, you should take your regularly scheduled medication with water. If your physician wants you to stop your medication prior to your blood work, he/she will let you know. Please feel free to ask us any questions you may have about the lab or a lab test. Due to state regulations, we can only perform labs ordered by an Osler Medical physician. Also, by law, the lab staff may not give results directly to a patient. Your physician will be given the lab results for review and will notify you as quickly as possible. Your insurance company may require that you have your specimens collected and/or tested at laboratories with which insurance company has contracted. Please review your insurance information for clarification and we will take every effort to verify your benefits. If necessary, we will help direct you to a facility approved by your insurance company. The majority of lab tests are covered by your insurance. At times charges may not be a covered benefit, and you will be responsible for these charges. The Osler Medical laboratory staff is very experienced, capable and caring. Any question or concern you may have is very important to us. It is our promise that you will be treated professionally as an Osler patient and warmly as an Osler friend. |
