Patient's Guide to Osler Medical

Osler Medical is excited to be one of the first to introduce a breakthrough innovation in medical imaging to Brevard County; the 64 slice Volume Computed Topography (VCT) .

Using Siemens Sensation 64 slice technology, a large 360 degree x-ray takes several rapid pictures simultaneously allowing the creation of high resolution 3-D images. With a VCT scan, doctors can now view complex, high-resolution images that are detailed up to 4mm or 1/8 of an inch.

What does this mean to you? Well, this means that doctors can take virtual trips through your veins and arteries. Doctors have now gained the ability to spot cancer growths at a premature stage.

Using the VCT , Osler physicians will be able to capture a high resolution image of a heart in 5 heart beats, an organ in 1 second and a whole body image in 10 seconds. Physicians will also be able to view the motion and pumping of the heart and view blockages in the coronary arteries.
