Robert Brennan, M.D.

…is board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery, fellowship trained in Hand, Upper Extremity and Shoulder Surgery, and has earned Advanced Qualifications of Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Brennan received his medical degree (M.D.) and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency training from the Robert Wood Johnson (Rutgers) Medical School in New Jersey. He then had additional fellowship training in hand surgery and shoulder surgery from Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, New York.

Prior to relocating to Melbourne, FL, Dr. Brennan practiced with the Bone and Joint Clinic of Baton Rouge, LA for 10 years.

Dr. Brennan has been a leader and innovator in the development and utilization of arthroscopic techniques used to treat upper extremity problems. Specifically, Dr. Brennan has helped design many of the arthroscopic techniques to treat rotator cuff tears. These techniques cause less tissue trauma, allow direct access to a wider range of shoulder disorders, and makes recovery time quicker and less painful.

Dr. Brennan also embraces a new technique in orthopedics termed minimally invasive surgery. Special instrumentation and techniques are used to decrease the size of the incision, which causes less tissue trauma, allows direct access to the orthopedic site and promotes quicker healing time. Dr. Brennan has used these techniques extensively in such areas as carpal tunnel release, total joint replacement and surgery to repair fractures.
