  • Do you snore?
  • Have you been told that you stop breathing while you sleep?
  • Do you wake from sleep snoring, choking, or struggling for breath?
  • Are you overweight?
  • Are you sleeping during the day?
  • Do you have headaches when you wake up?
  • Do you fall asleep unintentionally?
  • When you wake up, do you feel unrefreshed?
If you have three or more of the above symptoms speak with your physician about having a sleep study.

People most likely to have or develop sleep apnea are those who snore loudly, are overweight, or have some physical abnormality in the nose, throat or other parts of the upper airway. Sleep apnea seems to run in some families suggesting a possible genetic basis.

Sleep Apnea is treatable through a variety of methods, both surgical and non-surgical. The specific therapy for sleep apnea is tailored to the individual patient based on medical history and the results of a diagnostic sleep study.
